In Italia esistono molte superstizioni curiose: il gatto nero che attraversa la strada porta sfortuna, mentre il numero 17 è considerato sfortunato (a differenza del 13, temuto in altri paesi). Rovesciare il sale porta male, e passare sotto una scala è generalmente evitato. Toccare ferro è un modo comune per scacciare la sfortuna.
