Thuis Italiaans (Alessio) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and what we do with it.

It applies to the whole website, including the blog.

What we collect

Through the contact form on this website we ask for your name, email address, preferred location and the message you write yourself. We use this to get back to you about Italian lessons.

Reviews and testimonials

All reviews and testimonials shown on this website are carefully anonymised. To protect students' privacy we publish no photos, full names or surnames.

On request we can provide further verification to support the reliability of the reviews, such as relevant documentation. With the explicit consent of the students involved, we can also put you in touch with former learners to confirm their experience.

Why we use this data

We use your data only to:

reply to your request for a free intake or for lessons;
schedule appointments and prepare the content of the lessons;
keep any administration around the lessons.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or other companies. It is used by Alessio personally, to teach you. There is one exception, and you ask for it yourself: the contact form on the pages about language schools in Italy. Exactly what happens there is described below.

Language schools in Italy

The pages about language schools in Italy carry a form that puts you in touch with a school directly. If you use it, we send your name, your email address and your message to the schools you ticked, so that they can reply to you directly. That is the whole point of the form: without those details there is no enquiry. Which schools they are is shown on screen before you send: the extra ones are off by default.

A copy of the message also reaches us. We use it to check that the enquiry arrived and to correct a school's address when it is out of date. We keep those emails for twelve months at most and use them for nothing else: no newsletter, no advertising. Sending runs through Resend, and the website through Cloudflare; both act only as processors.

If you want our copy gone, write to thuisitaliaans@gmail.com. What the school itself does with your message falls under its own privacy policy: that we cannot delete for you.

How long we keep data

We keep your data no longer than needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires (for tax records, for instance).

Cookies and statistics

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. Only technical, functional cookies are used, the ones the site needs to work.

To understand how many visitors the site has and which pages are read most, the server keeps count itself. This happens without cookies, without JavaScript in your browser and without third-party services. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it. That is also why there is no cookie banner here: there is nothing to accept or refuse.

What is kept is a daily tally: how often a page was opened, how often a free guide was downloaded, which domain the visitor came from (the domain only, for example ciaotutti.nl), the country, the browser language setting and which links were broken, which links inside the site were followed and which outbound links were clicked (the app in the App Store, WhatsApp, a partner's site). What is not kept: IP addresses, the full referring address, search queries, full browser details, or anything at all that would make the same visitor recognisable on a later visit. The figures are daily totals, not individual visits, and only I read them.
