80 to pass · 5 parts

A2 practice test

by Alessio · teacher of Italian for foreigners, ITALS master’s in teaching Italian abroad (Ca’ Foscari University, Venice) and a master’s in teaching Italian as a second language (Giustino Fortunato University, Benevento)

Five parts, like the real thing: two listening, two reading and a form to fill in. A hundred points, pass at eighty.

  • 60 minutes in the real test
  • 100 points
  • 80 to pass
  • 5 parts
  • Free, no sign-up
  • At the prefecture, in a CPIA

The real test lasts 60 minutes. There is no clock here: take the time you need, and do it again whenever you like.

We wrote this practice test on the model of the real one. The 100 points and the pass mark of 80 are official; what each question is worth is not, because the Ministry does not publish it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official test?

No. We wrote it on the model of the real one: same structure, same score, same pass mark. The official questions are not published anywhere.

If I get 80 here, will I pass the real test?

It is a good sign, not a guarantee. In the real test you write by hand, in one hour, in a classroom. If you go past 80 here without rushing, you are on the right track.

Can I do it again?

Yes, as many times as you like. The questions stay the same: the second time, look above all at the ones you got wrong.

What to do now

If you are close to 80 you are nearly there: keep going with the exercises and with the page on how the test works. If you are far off, it is usually everyday vocabulary, not grammar.
