Behind
amo Italian there is a real teacher: Alessio, teaching Italian since 2018. And one honest rule: the app gives you the daily practice, but you learn to speak with a person. Use it on its own, or alongside lessons: with Alessio or with your own teacher.
Listening, reading and grammar, writing and speaking, in the order of the exam and against the clock. Two hours in all and one attempt, as on the day.
At the end the report scores each part separately, not with one overall mark: you need at least 7 out of 12 in every part.

Tap a wrong answer and you see the right one, why yours does not work and where the trap was. If a grammar rule is behind it, the chapter opens from there.
That is what the free tests online leave out: they tell you that you got it wrong, not why.

From zero to C2 along the official European levels. Every level has stages for grammar, vocabulary, culture and comprehension, with checkpoints and level exams.
You always know where you are and what's needed for the next step.

Not only English, like almost every other app.
amo Italian is also thought for those who live and work in Italy and never find their language in other apps: Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Korean, French, Japanese, English, Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Tagalog, German, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian.

You need to prove B1 Italian for a citizenship application, by residence or by marriage.
You live and work in Italy and study in the gaps of the day.
You have tried a practice test and want to know where you lose points.
You want to actually reach the level, not just scrape through.
Download the app and take your first simulation.
With the subscription: full A1–C2 course, dictionary, exercises and 3 titles of your choice.

Since December 2018 (law 132/2018) anyone applying for Italian citizenship by residence or by marriage has to prove B1 Italian. If you are applying by descent (jure sanguinis), the language test is not required. A2 is a different requirement: it is the level for the EU long-term residence permit.
B1 of the Common European Framework. You prove it with a certificate from one of the four recognised bodies (CILS, CELI, PLIDA, cert.it) or with a school or university qualification obtained in Italy. The app prepares you: the certificate is issued by the exam body, not by the app.
Like the exam: listening, reading and grammar, writing and speaking, two hours in all and one attempt. At the end the report gives each part its own score, and the pass mark is 7 out of 12 in each one.
The app has it, with the tasks and the timing, but it does not score it: speaking needs a person who listens and answers. For that part a lesson works better, with Alessio or with another teacher.
The download is free. With a subscription (monthly or yearly) or with the Lifetime purchase you unlock the complete A1–C2 course, the dictionary and the exercises without limits; on top of that you choose 3 titles with the subscription and 6 with Lifetime, freely from the library courses and the graded novels. The other titles are bought individually. Prices are shown in the app before any purchase.
Yes. Once you have downloaded a book or a level, the exercises, the readings and the dictionary work offline. You only need the network for purchases and to sync your progress.
Grammar, translations and dictionary come in 17 languages: Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Korean, French, Japanese, English, Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Tagalog, German, Tigrinya, Turkish and Ukrainian.
Yes. The path follows the CEFR levels from A1 to C2 with checkpoints and level exams, so it covers the skills those certifications require. It is not, however, an official exam simulator.
For now
amo Italian is an app for iPhone and iPad. On Android you can use the 700+ free exercises on this site, which work from any browser.
The app gives you structure, repetition and vocabulary, and it works whenever you want. Lessons are for speaking, being corrected and getting unstuck. Many students use the app between one lesson and the next.
