From the kitchen table to the CEFR
Most heritage speakers understand far more than they can say, and what they know arrived in no particular order: food, family, weather, a handful of imperatives. The path still starts at A1, but it moves fast through what you already recognise and slows down where the gaps are.
Checkpoints and level exams tell you where you actually stand, instead of leaving you to guess.
The word, and the family it comes from
Tap a word and you get a plain definition, how it sounds, its synonyms, the words derived from it and the theme it belongs to. That is usually where a half-remembered family word finally clicks into place.
The languages of Italy are not broken Italian: Sicilian and Neapolitan are languages of their own. The dictionary is the quickest way to see which word is which.
